Have you ever watched a pom pom fall apart before your eyes? Have you ever made a toddler a hat with pom poms? If the answer is yes, you need to know how to make a secure pom pom!!
Follow this step by step tutorial and say goodbye to those annoying pom pom bombs.
I love this tip! No more falling apart pom-poms. Thank you.
Awesome tip! I love this. Thank you!
I meant to mention, I followed a link from http://www.mooglyblog.com/unpinning-pinterest-june-2013/ to get here
I’m having a hard time understanding step 2. Where exactly do I put the thread? Through the middle circle that I’ve removed the cardboard from or wrap it around the whole bunch of yarn in a vertical fashion?
I do not use the cardboard technique. I just wrap yarn around something square or rectangle and the tie it around the center of it after you pull it off the item you wrapped the yarn around.
From the centre to the outside and tie with a triple twist not a double and then it won’t loosen.
So this was a complete and total waste of time. First off the directions aren’t very clear for people who don’t make pom poms often and when I was all done you can still just pull the strings out of it. I’m not sure how that’s supposed to be “secure”
Maybe, if you ever decide to try again, pull the needle/yarn through a few more times at more angles. The more you do this, the more secure it will be. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.
It’s a great tutorial – is it complete and it isn’t a waste of time. I have a clover pompom maker and it still has slipping yarn…this should remedy that! Thank you very much.
